Casey Balio PhD

Casey is a research assistant professor in the ETSU Center for Rural Health Research and the Department of Health Services Management and Policy. She completed her PhD at the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health at Indiana University, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at the University of North Carolina. Her research focuses on the intersection of rural health, health policy, social determinants of health, and public health. She has led studies related to federal block grants, rural data limitations, area-level SDoH indices, Medicaid expansion, public health workforce, and health care utilization.
