Skill-Building Workshop

The annual Skill-Building Workshop provides an opportunity for state rural health association (SRHA) leaders to learn from each other and develop the skills that they need to achieve the goals of their SRHA!

This workshop is open to staff and members of SRHAs, and there is no charge for individuals affiliated with SRHAs that are members of the NRHA's State Association Council.

National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH)

Partnerships serve as a valuable resource for states looking to strengthen their programs and the communities they impact. NOSORH is a key partner, as some SRHAs are operated by a State Office of Rural Health, and others work closely to insure that rural health issues are being addressed throughout each state. Ms. Eisinger will provide and overview of the organization and discuss new ways to partner in the future.

Dr. Turner will lead the final day of the Skill-Building Workshop in a dynamic 3-part intensive day of grant writing. This first section will cover the goals and expectations of grant reviewers, and will include a warm-up project, an exercise to determine the unique features of your SRHA that can make it particularly appealing to reviewers, and finally, writing practice.

Part II will provide a discussion on the 10/60 rule of fundraising, a keywords exercise to make your proposals stand out, and finally, a "Show Me the Money!" presentation on resources, trends, and charitable giving.
